ALL LANES OF ROUTE 33 OPEN AGAIN AT WEST POINT TODAY
Roadway improvement project is nearing completion

FREDERICKSBURG – All four travel lanes on Route 33 will open today by 5 p.m. at the West Point Creek Bridge in West Point.

Work is nearing completion on a project to improve the approaches to the West Point Creek Bridge, which required Route 33 to be reduced at the bridge from four travel lanes to two lanes.

In addition, Chelsea Road has re-opened at the intersection with Route 33. A temporary access road to Chelsea Road and Glass Island Road built for the project is now closed.

Intermittent, temporary shoulder closures may continue to occur as construction work is finished. The project completion date is May 20, 2012.

Real-time listings of work zones and road conditions in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic and travel information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
