CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY CONTINUES ON ROUTE 17 AT FOX MILL RUN
Motorists should expect delays in this area for the next two weeks

FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists traveling on Route 17 Business (Main Street) in Gloucester County will continue to experience brief delays at Fox Mill Run as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) works to complete the Fox Mill Run Bridge Replacement Project.

Last week, the southbound lane of traffic was shifted from the northbound bridge to the new southbound bridge, ending the two-way detour on the northbound bridge.  Currently, one lane remains closed on the northbound bridge.   All work has been completed on the southbound bridge and both southbound lanes are now and will remain open to traffic.  This traffic pattern will remain in place until the project is completed.

The $3.2 million project is expected to be completed by Monday, September 10, weather permitting.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the work zone.

For real time listings of work zones and road conditions anywhere in Virginia, visit VDOT’s 24-hour traffic and travel information website www.511virginia.org.  Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
