NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN ON ROUTE 208 BRIDGE SLATED TO BEGIN WEDNESDAY
All traffic on the bridge will be shifted to the westbound lane on February 22

FREDERICKSBURG –   Motorists may encounter brief delays on Wednesday, Feb. 22 on the Route 208 bridge over Lake Anna while Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) prepares to shift traffic to the westbound lane of the bridge.

At 7 a.m. crews will begin moving signs and barriers and restriping the pavement in preparation for the new traffic pattern.  Motorists can expect brief traffic stops during this operation.  The traffic shift is expected to be complete by 5 p.m.

The new traffic pattern will shift east and westbound traffic to the westbound lane. The temporary traffic signal will remain in place to control movement across the bridge.  Once traffic has been shifted to the westbound lane, crews will begin work to rehabilitate the eastbound lane of the bridge.

This $4.8 million rehabilitation project is expected to be complete in December 2012.

Real time listings of work zones and road conditions in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic and travel information website www.511virginia.org.  Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 for any telephone in Virginia.
