Officials will share revisions to turn lane project at Route 1 and Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road) in Spotsylvania

FREDERICKSBURGThe public is invited to attend an information meeting next week on revised project plans for the Route 1 and Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road) intersection improvement project in Spotsylvania County.

No formal presentation will be given at the meeting. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) officials will be available continuously from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 to share updated project plans, maps, and documents, and to address questions.

A citizen information meeting on the project has been scheduled:

Thursday, April 19

5-7 p.m.

Riverview Elementary School

7001 North Roxbury Mill Road

Spotsylvania, VA 22551

The project would build designated left turn lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound to improve safety operations at the intersection.

Since a design public hearing on the project was held in January, project officials have adjusted the design to shift the alignment to the west, north of Route 606, in order to balance the right of way impacts. Also, Roxbury Road has been relocated approximately 250 feet north on Route 1.

More information on the project is available online at
