BRIEF TRAFFIC DELAYS MONDAY ON ROUTE 3 BRIDGE
Vehicles will be stopped for up to 5 minute periods intermittently at Twigg Bridge between Mathews, Middlesex counties

FREDERICKSBURG – Traffic will be stopped for 5-minute periods on Route 3 at the John Andrew Twigg Bridge between Mathews and Middlesex counties on Monday, February 18.

Traffic will be stopped in both directions several times for approximately 5 minutes. The brief closures will occur between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Workers must close the bridge to traffic to position equipment to pour concrete for a new bridge deck on one half of the bridge.

A $10.9 million contract was awarded by the Commonwealth Transportation Board to Precon Marine, Inc., to repair the Twigg Bridge. Work began in spring 2012, and the project completion date is May 2014.

This project will rehabilitate the two-lane Twigg Bridge, replacing its deck, fenders, and superstructure and repairing portions of the bridge substructure. The existing bridge is structurally deficient.
