I-95 SOUTHBOUND REMAINS CLOSED IN STAFFORD
Congestion begins 7 miles before incident scene, traffic is being detoured to Route 1

FREDERICKSBURG – Southbound Interstate 95 remains closed south of Exit 133/Falmouth in Stafford County for a crash involving hazardous materials.

All southbound traffic is being detoured at Exit 133 to southbound Route 17 Business, and then  onto southbound Route 1. Traffic can return to southbound I-95 at Exit 130/Route 3 or Exit 126/Spotsylvania.

VDOT has adjusted the traffic signal timing along the detour route to accommodate the additional traffic. Law enforcement officials are directing traffic at Route 17 Business, Route 1, and Route 218 in Stafford.

Heavy congestion is expected on southbound Route 17 Business and southbound Route 1 today in the Fredericksburg area, as well as on roads that feed to these primary routes.

All southbound lanes of  I-95 are expected to remain closed through midday.

Real-time listings of congestion and incident information on Virginia interstates and roadways is available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
