BRIEF DELAYS NEXT WEEK ON ROUTE 17 AT TAPPAHANNOCK
Traffic reduced to one lane near June Parker Marina

FREDERICKSBURG – Route 17 at Tappahannock will be reduced to one lane near June Parker Marina next Wednesday, July 9 through Friday, July 11 during daytime hours for sewer line work.

Between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., traffic will alternate traveling on Route 17 directed by a flagging crew. Motorists may experience brief travel delays.

The work is in connection with a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) project to reconstruct a section of Route 17 in Tappahannock. The project is elevating the road and installing a bridge to reduce the occurrence of flooding on Route 17, a hurricane evacuation route, from just north of Marsh Street to just south of Airport Road.

Construction work began in January, and will conclude by May 2016.

Real-time listings of travel times, work zones, and traffic incidents in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org.

Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia, or downloading VDOT’s 511Virginia free mobile app.
