CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON ROUTE 206 INTERSECTION
Project will add turn lanes on Route 206 at Owens Drive and Windsor Drive in King George

FREDERICKSBURG – Construction work to build new turn lanes along Route 206 at its intersection with Route 218 (Windsor Drive) and Route 624 (Owens Drive) in King George County will begin on Monday, February 24, 2014.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) project will enhance safety by building left turn lanes for eastbound and westbound Route 206 traffic turning onto Owens Drive and Windsor Drive. Right turn lanes will also be added on Route 206 at this location.

During construction, Route 206 traffic may be reduced to a single lane on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Flaggers will provide traffic control during these operations.

A $1.4 million contract for construction was awarded to J.L Kent & Sons, Inc., of Spotsylvania County. The project’s total cost is an estimated $3.6 million.

The project will be completed by December 5, 2014.
