NO DETOUR ON ROUTE 206 THIS WEEKEND
Road work requiring detour route in King George County was completed last weekend

FREDERICKSBURG – Route 206 (Dahlgren Road) will remain open in King George County this weekend near the intersection of Route 218 (Windsor Drive) and Route 624 (Owens Drive).

Construction work planned for Friday, May 16 through Monday, May 19, was finished ahead of schedule. No detour is needed this weekend.

Workers have finished installing a 54-inch drainage pipe underneath Route 206, which required a complete road closure and detour from Friday, May 9 through Sunday, May 11.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is building new turn lanes along Route 206 at its intersection with Windsor Drive and Owens Drive. When complete, the intersection will include left turn lanes for eastbound and westbound Route 206 traffic turning onto Owens Drive and Windsor Drive. Right turn lanes will also be added on Route 206.

The project began in February 2014, and will be completed by December 5, 2014.

Real-time listings of work zones, congestion and incident information is available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org.

Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia, or by downloading the free 511 Virginia mobile app.
