PAVING WORK TO DETOUR TRAFFIC ON STAFFORDBORO BOULEVARD
Motorists should be alert for detour route Tuesday night, Wednesday morning
FREDERICKSBURG – Paving work is scheduled on Route 684 (Staffordboro Boulevard) in Stafford County Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
Southbound Staffordboro Boulevard will be closed between the northern entrance to the Park & Ride facility and Stafford Marketplace from 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1 until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2.
Southbound Staffordboro Boulevard traffic will be detoured through the perimeter of the Park & Ride facility. Motorists should follow posted detour signs and reduce their speed.
Access to the Park & Ride facility will remain open for lot users.
This paving work is part of a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) project to add nearly 1,000 new commuter parking spaces to the Staffordboro Boulevard Park & Ride lot.
VDOT is requiring the contractor to enhance several segments of Staffordboro Boulevard with roller-compacted concrete as a base layer, where construction vehicles are traveling during the project.
Construction of the $12.9 million improvement project is scheduled open to users by October 31, 2014.
Real-time listings of travel times, work zones, and traffic incidents in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
