VDOT TO HOLD MEETING ON ROUTE 662 (ALMONDSVILLE ROAD) BRIDGE PROJECT
Public is invited to review proposed plans and submit comments

FREDERICKSBURG—The public is invited to attend a design public hearing next week for a proposed bridge replacement project on Route 662 (Almondsville Road) in Gloucester County.

The design public hearing will be held:

Thursday, August 14

5-7 p.m.

Abingdon Rescue Squad – Classroom C

2676 Hayes Road

Hayes, VA 23072

Stop by anytime between 5-7 p.m. to meet with Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) staff to view proposed design plans and maps, ask questions, and provide comment on the project. There will be no formal presentation delivered at the hearing.

VDOT is proposing to replace the existing Route 662 bridge, which was built in 1937. The existing bridge is structurally deficient, and is posted with a 3-ton weight limit for vehicles. Replacing the bridge would remove the posted weight limit for vehicles.

Construction is proposed to begin in July 2017. The new bridge would have two 9 foot travel lanes, and 2 foot shoulders.

For anyone unable to attend the design public hearing, comments may also be submitted through the close of business on August 25, 2014.

Comments can be sent by email to fredericksburginfo@VDOT.Virginia.Gov. Please reference “Route 662 Public Hearing Comment” in the subject line.

Comments sent by mail, which must be postmarked by August 25, 2014, may be addressed to:

Mr. Daniel Harrison
Virginia Department of Transportation
Project Manager
87 Deacon Road
Stafford, VA 22405

Meeting displays and materials will be posted online at www.VirginiaDOT.org on August 14.
