EXPECT DELAYS ON ROUTE 608 (BENCHMARK ROAD) IN SPOTSYLVANIA FOR EMERGENCY REPAIR
Benchmark Road reduced to a single lane approximately 1 mile north of Route 17
FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists can expect travel delays on Route 608 (Benchmark Road) in Spotsylvania County through the evening peak travel period due to an emergency road and pipe repair.
Benchmark Road is reduced to one lane approximately one mile north of Route 17. Motorists are encouraged to use Route 1, Route 2 or Route 17 as alternate routes to avoid delays.
Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are repairing a 6 foot section of damaged pavement and failed drainage pipe on Benchmark Road.
VDOT crews are providing traffic control at the scene.
Approximately 5,100 vehicles a day travel Benchmark Road, according to a 2015 VDOT traffic count.

VDOT’s 14-county Fredericksburg District includes the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford in the Fredericksburg area; Northumberland, Richmond, Lancaster and Westmoreland counties in the Northern Neck; Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews and Middlesex counties in the Middle Peninsula.
