SNOW COVERED ROADS CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT
Conditions expected to deteriorate overnight. Drivers urged to stay off the roads
FREDERICKSBURG – (9:30 p.m.) Heavy snow continues to fall throughout the 14-county Fredericksburg District.
All roads, including Interstate 95 from the Prince William County line to the Hanover County line, are reported as moderate to severe, which means snow or ice is covering a major portion of the roadway. VDOT urges motorists to stay off the roads.
More snow and high winds are in the forecast, and it is expected that conditions will deteriorate as the evening progresses. Blowing snow will decrease visibility and could adhere to roadway signs and traffic signal lenses. If you approach an intersection with snow covered signs or traffic signals, please contact VDOT’s Customer Service at 1-800.367-7623. Agents are available 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
In addition to the nearly 100 pieces of equipment assigned to I-95, motorgraders and front-end loaders are staged at various locations to remove the snow that is pushed out of the travel lanes by the snow plow trains. This effort will clear snow from the travel lanes and the shoulder.
