UPDATE: BRIDGE DECK REPAIR CONTINUES ON I-95 SOUTHBOUND IN STAFFORD
I-95 southbound lane closures will be in place through early afternoon today
FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists traveling on Interstate 95 southbound in the Fredericksurg area should anticipate delays near Exit 133/Route 17 in Stafford County through early afternoon as crews complete an emergency bridge repair.
I-95 southbound will be reduced to a single lane at the Route 17 overpass until 11 a.m. this morning. Two southbound lanes will open at 11 a.m. All lanes will open by 3 p.m.
The on-ramp to I-95 southbound from Route 17 westbound will be closed through 3 p.m. today. Southbound I-95 motorists may still exit to Route 17 eastbound and westbound at the I-95 interchange.
This morning, two lane closures are needed so crews can pour concrete into a section of the bridge deck removed overnight. A single lane will remain closed through 3 p.m. to allow the concrete to set.
Yesterday afternoon, crews temporarily repaired a hole in the right travel lane by covering it with secured steel plates. Crews worked overnight to remove deteriorated concrete around the hole and install reinforced steel that will support the new concrete.
