Paving work will detour traffic between Rt. 1 and Lafayette Boulevard to Lassen Lane from 4 a.m. Saturday, June 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, June 26

FREDERICKSBURG – Route 620 (Harrison Road) in Spotsylvania County will be closed to through traffic between Route 1 and Lafayette Boulevard over the weekend of June 24-26 for road construction.

Through traffic will not be permitted to travel on this section of Harrison Road from 4 a.m. Saturday, June 24 through 5 a.m. Monday, June 26.

All lanes of Route 1 will remain open during the work zone. Harrison Road west of Route 1 will also remain open to traffic at all times. Residents living on the closed portion of Harrison Road will be permitted to enter the work zone to access their driveways.

Signs will direct motorists to use Route 1324 (Lassen Lane) as the recommended detour route. Lassen Lane is located immediately south of Harrison Road, and it also connects Route 1 and Lafayette Boulevard.

Message boards will be posted on Route 1, Harrison Road and Lafayette Boulevard to notify drivers of the upcoming detour.

Crews will demolish the existing pavement to lower the road’s elevation, followed by the addition of new stone and an asphalt travel surface. The work is part of the construction project underway to build new turn lanes and improve the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection. The project will be completed by spring 2018.
