ASHLAND MILL ROAD OPENS IN KING GEORGE COUNTY AFTER BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT
Detour has been lifted with new two-lane bridge over Pine Hill Creek
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Ashland Mill Road in King George County is open after a bridge replacement project over Pine Hill Creek. The bridge is located between Route 205 (Ridge Road) and Route 679 (Canterbury Loop).
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) closed Ashland Mill Road in December 2017 to replace the structurally deficient bridge.
Crews installed a concrete two-lane bridge to replace the single lane timber deck bridge. The previous structure also had a weight limit posting. Following final inspection, the weight posting has been removed.
Ashland Mill Road carries an average of 120 vehicles a day, according to a 2016 VDOT traffic count.
Motorists can find real-time information on lane closures, work zones, traffic and other incidents on 511Virginia.
