CSX WILL CLOSE SUMMIT CROSSING ROAD IN SPOTSYLVANIA FOR RAILROAD WORK
Summit Crossing Road will be closed to through traffic from Oct. 15-19

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. ˗˗ CSX will close Route 668 (Summit Crossing Road) in Spotsylvania County to through traffic on Monday, Oct. 15 through Friday, Oct. 19 to allow CSX crews to perform maintenance work on the railroad crossing. 

Summit Crossing Road will close at the railroad crossing in both directions at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, and will remain closed until 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19. 

Signs will be posted to guide motorists along the recommended detour, which is approximately eight miles:  

  • Route 609 (Macedonia Road)
  • Route 660 (Claiborne Crossing Road)
  • Route 607 (Guinea Station Road)
  • Route 634 (Flippo Road)
  • Route 608 (Massaponax Church Road) 

Message boards will be posted next week to alert drivers about the upcoming railroad work and detour. 

Summit Crossing Road carries an average of 400 vehicles a day, according to a 2017 Virginia Department of Transporation (VDOT) traffic count.
