EXPECT BRAKE LIGHTS ON I-95 WITH OVERNIGHT WORK ZONES NEAR FREDERICKSBURG
Several work zones scheduled at night this week requiring double lane closures

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Drivers should anticipate to see brake lights with overnight work zones on Interstate 95 this week requiring double lane closures in the Fredericksburg area.

Weather permitting, the following lane closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.:

I-95 Southbound

  • Aquia Creek Bridge at Mile Marker 145

o   Monday  Saturday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. for a bridge rehabilitation projectDouble lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m.   A single lane will remain closed until 7 a.m. except on Friday when all lanes will reopen at 4:30 a.m.

o   Friday: A single lane will close at 10 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at midnight. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. Saturday, June 23. The bridge is located at mile marker 145, just north of Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville).  

  • Exit 140 (Courthouse Road)

o   Monday  Tuesday: Expect alternating single lane closures to begin at 9 p.m. for a mobile work zone as part of the Exit 140 interchange relocation and Courthouse Road widening project.  All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m.

  • Potomac Creek Bridge at Mile Marker 137

o   Tuesday  Friday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. for a bridge rehabilitation project. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 7 a.m. the following morning except on Friday when all lanes reopen at 6 a.m.

o   Friday: A single lane will close at 10 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at midnight. Double lane closures will end 4:30 a.m. and all lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday, June 23. The bridge is located at mile marker 137, just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).

o   Monday  Wednesday: Expect a single lane to close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. Crews continue repairs to the I-95 bridge over Route 1.

o   Monday  Tuesday OFF-RAMP: A single lane on the off-ramp to Route 1 southbound will be closed. The lane closure will continue onto Route 1 southbound to allow crews to take soil samples. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m.

I-95 Northbound

o   Monday, and Thursday  Friday: Expect a single lane to close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen at 4:30 a.m.

  • Potomac Creek Bridge at Mile Marker 137

o   Monday  Friday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning. 

  • Exit 140 (Courthouse Road)

o   Wednesday  Thursday: Expect alternating single lane closures to begin at 9 p.m. for a mobile work zone. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. 

  • Aquia Creek Bridge at Mile Marker 145

o   Monday  Saturday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m.  All lanes will reopen at 4:30 a.m.

o   Friday: Expect a single lane to close at 10 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at midnight. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. Saturday, June 23.

Overhead message boards will warn drivers of delays and to stay alert for the work zones.
