FREDERICKSBURG DISTRICT: PREPARE NOW FOR THE CHANCE OF WINTRY MIX ON THURSDAY
Motorists should monitor weather forecasts and road conditions Thursday as light snow, sleet, rain and freezing temperatures could affect travel, especially the morning commute

FREDERICKSBURG – Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews in the Fredericksburg area will mobilize at midnight this evening to quickly respond to any hazardous road conditions that develop Thursday from possible mix of light snow, sleet, rain and freezing temperatures.

Equipment and materials have been pre-positioned for quick deployment ahead of the morning commuter travel period. Crews will also carefully monitor conditions in VDOT’s Park & Ride commuter lots.

Motorists should plan to monitor weather and road conditions closely and adjust travel as needed. Before starting a trip, travelers can check 511Virginia online at www.511virginia.org to see road conditions statewide in real-time.

Travelers can also call 511 or use VDOT’s 511Virginia free mobile app to find real-time road conditions in any area of the state.

VDOT’s Customer Service Center

VDOT’s Customer Service Center is open 24 hours a day to answer questions and take reports of roadway hazards at 1-800-FOR-ROAD (367-7623).
