GWYNN’S ISLAND BRIDGE STUCK DUE TO HEAT
Crew enroute to cool down the bridge with water
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Gwynn’s Island Bridge is stuck in the open position due to the extreme heat.
Currently, Route 223 (Cricket Hill Road) bridge that links mainland Mathews County and Gwynn’s Island is closed to all traffic. The bridge has a moveable swing span, which opens frequently to allow marine traffic to pass.
A crew is enroute to cool down the temperature of the bridge.
No immediate reopening time is available.
