I-95 IMPROVEMENTS UNDERWAY IN FREDERICKSBURG
Expect overnight delays on I-95 northbound and southbound, including full traffic stops at Exit 140/Courthouse Road and a new traffic pattern at Exit 130/Route 3

FREDERICKSBURG, Va– Drivers should anticipate overnight delays on Interstate 95 this week, with multiple work zones requiring double lane closures and full traffic stops in the Fredericksburg area starting tonight, Aug. 27.

Full traffic stops on I-95 southbound and northbound are scheduled at Exit 140/Courthouse Road to allow crews to install bridge beams as part of the project to reconfigure the interchange to a diverging diamond. Traffic will be stopped up to 30 minutes at a time for motorist safety.

On Wednesday, Aug. 29, Route 3 eastbound traffic seeking to merge onto I-95 northbound will use the triple left turn lanes, which will be controlled by a new traffic signal. The new turn lanes will open before the morning peak travel period. The existing loop on-ramp will also close on the same morning.

Overnight travelers on I-95 are encouraged to use Route 1 or Route 301 to avoid delays.
