MAIN STREET LANE CLOSURES CONTINUE MARCH 26-APRIL 6 IN MATHEWS COURTHOUSE AREA
Route 14 (Main Street) will be reduced to a single lane on most weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for installation of new drainage pipes
FREDERICKSBURG – Construction work on the Mathews Courthouse Area Drainage Project will continue to close a single lane of Route 14 (Main Street) in Mathews County on weekdays between Church Street and Buckley Hall Road to allow crews to install new drainage pipes underneath the road.
A flagging crew will direct one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone. Single lane closures are anticipated to be needed for pipe installation for two additional weeks, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect brief delays most days between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Main Street on the following scheduled dates:
- Monday, March 26 – Friday, March 30
- Tuesday, April 3 – Friday, April 6
Lane closures will be suspended between noon Friday, March 30 and noon Tuesday, April 3 due to the Easter holiday travel period.
Message boards are posted near the work zone to notify motorists of the upcoming single lane closures and the potential for travel delays.
Crews are installing three concrete drainage pipes underneath Main Street as part of a project to improve drainage in the Courthouse area. Construction is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 26, 2018.
