MILLING AND PAVING SCHEDULED TO BEGIN ON ROUTE 3 NEAR ORANGE COUNTY/SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY LINE
Motorists traveling on Route 3 eastbound should expect delays and a rough driving surface for approximately three weeks, weather permitting
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – On Monday, Aug. 6, the Virginia Department of Transportation will begin milling on Route 3 eastbound from the Orange County/Spotsylvania County line near Route 20 to just east of Route 610 (Elys Ford Road), approximately five miles.
During the next three weeks, motorists traveling on Route 3 eastbound will encounter crews milling, patching, paving, installing pavement markers and placing stone along the shoulder in the work zone.
In addition, crews will be replacing traffic signal loop detectors at the following intersections located within the work zone:
- Route 3 eastbound at Route 613 (Brock Road)
- Route 3 eastbound at Route 621 (Orange Plank Road)
- Route 3 eastbound at Route 610 (Elys Ford Road)
Motorists should expect a single lane closure in the work zone Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., each day.
Work is expected to be complete in approximately three weeks, weather permitting.

VDOT’s 14-county Fredericksburg District includes the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford in the Fredericksburg area; Northumberland, Richmond, Lancaster and Westmoreland counties in the Northern Neck; Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews and Middlesex counties in the Middle Peninsula.
