All eastbound and westbound lanes of Route 3 are closed near Bernstein Road for a utility pole fire; VDOT crews traveling to scene to assist with traffic control

12:05 P.M. UPDATE: Route 3 eastbound has re-opened at Bernstein Road in Spotsylvania County. All lanes of Route 3 are now open.

11:30 A.M. UPDATE: Route 3 westbound has re-opened at the intersection of Bernstein Road in Spotsylvania County. Route 3 eastbound lanes remain closed.

FREDERICKSBURG – Route 3 in Spotsylvania County is closed in both directions near the intersection of Bernstein Road due to a utility pole fire.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are traveling to the scene to assist with traffic control and setting up a detour route. Bernstein Road intersects with Route 3 just east of the intersection with Chewning Lane and Rutherford Drive, and west of Salem Church Road.

Motorists should avoid the area and seek alternate routes, or if already in the vicinity, plan to follow traffic control direction at the incident scene.
