TIGNOR ROAD IN CAROLINE COUNTY CLOSED FOR PIPE REPAIR
Pipe failed on Route 624 with recent heavy rain
UPDATE: Tignor Road is now OPEN to through traffic, as of Friday, July 27.
FREDERICKSBURG – Route 624 (Tignor Road) in Caroline County is closed after the recent heavy rain caused a pipe underneath the road to fail.
Tignor Road, which is off Sparta Road in the Milford area of the county, will require significant repair.
The road is anticipated to remain closed through Friday, August 10.
Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will work to replace or repair the pipe and damaged roadway.
Signs are posted to alert drivers to the emergency road closure.
According to a recent traffic count, approximately 70 vehicles a day travel Tignor Road.

VDOT’s 14-county Fredericksburg District includes the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford in the Fredericksburg area; Northumberland, Richmond, Lancaster and Westmoreland counties in the Northern Neck; Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews and Middlesex counties in the Middle Peninsula.
