TRIPLE LEFT TURN LANES OPEN TOMORROW MORNING ON ROUTE 3 EASTBOUND TO I-95 NORTHBOUND IN FREDERICKSBURG
Route 3 eastbound traffic will access I-95 northbound using three left turn lanes controlled by a new traffic signal starting early Wednesday, Aug. 29
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The triple left turn lanes on Route 3 eastbound to access northbound Interstate 95 will open tomorrow morning, Wednesday, Aug. 29, as part of the $21 million project to improve safety and operations at the I-95 Exit 130 interchange in Fredericksburg.
Weather permitting, early Wednesday, Route 3 eastbound traffic seeking to merge onto I-95 northbound will use the triple left turn lanes, which will be controlled by a new traffic signal. The existing loop on-ramp will be closed and all signal heads will be placed into full color operation before tomorrow morning's peak travel period.
The new signal was activated into flash mode on Monday, Aug. 27. The Route 3 westbound signal heads have been flashing yellow to allow drivers to adjust to their presence.
The three left turn lanes will increase storage capacity from the interchange to the interstate. This traffic pattern change is designed to make it safer for drivers to merge onto I-95 northbound with additional space.
Virginia State Police will be present at the intersection to assist with traffic control.
Motorists can find real-time information on lane closures, work zones, traffic and other incidents on 511Virginia.
