Local law enforcement officials have closed Route 3 to all traffic at the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties

FREDERICKSBURG – Local law enforcement officials have closed Route 3 to traffic at the Robert O. Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties for motorist safety due to sustained high winds.

Real-time updates on the bridge’s status will be available on 511Virginia.

Download the free mobile 511Virginia app for Apple and Android devices to stay connected, or visit www.511Virginia.org. Motorists also can reach 511Virginia by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia.

An earlier crash involving a tractor-trailer on Norris Bridge had previously closed the bridge to traffic. The tractor-trailer was not overturned, which was reported incorrectly in an earlier release. The tractor-trailer remained upright.
