Crash on Interstate 95 North closes Route 58 East overpass

EMPORIA – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has closed eastbound Route 58 in Emporia due to a tractor trailer crash this morning on Interstate 95 North.

Route 58 East traffic is currently being detoured onto Route 95 South to Route 629 (exit 4) in Skippers, Virginia. From there, motorists will travel to Route 301 North back towards the town of Emporia, which connects with Route 58.

Bridge inspection teams are on scene to inspect the damage caused by the crash to determine what repairs need to be made. The duration of the detour is not known at this time.
