JAMESTOWN-SCOTLAND FERRY BACK TO FULL SERVICE LATE TUESDAY EVENING
Ferry system will resume 24/7 operations
SURRY – The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry will resume normal summer operations at 10 p.m. tonight. At that time all vessels will return to service and the ferry system will be operating at full capacity and running on the regular schedule.
The ferry fleet was removed from service Friday, August 26, in anticipation of Hurricane Irene. Delays in resuming standard ferry operations were due to a variety of factors. Additionally, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) only allowed limited maritime traffic until all waterways were cleared and safe to resume full vessel operations.
As a reminder, after Labor Day weekend, the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry will operate under the Fall/Winter/Spring Schedule. For additional schedule information, visit: http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/ferry-jamestown.asp
Motorists are encouraged to visit www.va511.org , call 511 or listen to Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 610 AM or call the Traffic Information Line at 757-361-3016 for current traffic and travel information. The ferry hotline is available 24 hours a day 1-800-VAFERRY.
