VDOT WILL NOT CLOSE THE I-64 HAMPTON ROADS BRIDGE-TUNNEL THE WEEKENDS OF MAY 4 OR MAY 11

SUFFOLK– The eastbound lanes of I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) will not close this weekend. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has rescheduled the work previously scheduled for the weekends of Friday, May 4, 2012 and Friday, May 11, 2012, until after the Labor Day holiday.

VDOT makes every effort to schedule maintenance operations during periods with the least possible impact to motorists, while maintaining safe and efficient travel conditions throughout the area. However, major event impacts have become evident, resulting in postponement of work until after the tourist season.

Motorists are encouraged to visit www.511virginia.org , call 511 or listen to Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 610 AM or call the Traffic Information Line at 757-361-3016 for current traffic and travel information.
