PUBLIC COMMENTS SOUGHT ON U.S. ROUTE 13 SAFETY CORRIDOR STUDY

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a Citizen Information Meeting on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 about the U.S. Route 13 Safety Corridor Study.

WHAT:    Citizen Information Meeting

WHEN:    Tuesday, March 1, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 

WHERE:  Eastern Shore Community College

                 29300 Lankford Highway

                 Melfa, VA 23410

The study is underway to develop a plan that VDOT and surrounding jurisdictions can implement on the Eastern Shore for a safer and more efficient transportation corridor. The area of interest for this study includes U.S. Route 13 from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel to the Maryland State Line and Route 175 from U.S. Route 13 to the town of Chincoteague.

The public can review the safety assessment study and strategies for potential corridor alternatives. The focus of the study remains on safety and exploring opportunities to use new technology to enhance safety and operations.
