Delays likely during bridge cleaning operations
Work scheduled near River Ridge Mall
According to Jeff Milton of the district’s Structures and Bridge section, “Structures are cleaned each spring as part of our Preventative Maintenance Program. Chemicals used during winter weather are removed to prevent their destructive action and other debris that has accumulated over the year is removed so as not to inhibit the proper function of bridge parts. Preventative maintenance is a vital part of VDOT’s overall program to preserve the capital investment in the state’s bridge structures.”
Temporary lane closures and/or delays will occur during this work. Signs and other safety devices will be utilized to alert motorists to these operations.
Motorists should use caution when traveling through these or any work zones. For the location of highway work zones statewide, call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org.
