CAUTION URGED DURING MORNING DRIVE
Icy conditions reported in various locations

LYNCHBURG - Motorists are urged to use caution if traveling during the early morning hours of Wednesday. As of 3:00 a.m., snow or ice was reported on roads in Amherst, Campbell and Nelson Counties.

Temperatures were hovering at or below 32 degrees and freezing rain continued to fall. A light coating of ice is possible on surfaces, especially bridges, overpasses and ramps.

Should driving be necessary this morning, caution is urged. Before traveling, know the road conditions. Call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org.

In addition, VDOT advises to allow extra time for travel, do not pass snowplows or other highway equipment - they are working to improve your drive, and slow down.
