ROUTE 729 IN PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY REOPENS
Road closed due to icy conditions and accidents

CHATHAM – Route 729 in Pittsylvania County has reopened after being closed this morning due to icy conditions that resulted in numerous accidents.

Light snow fell across portions of Campbell, Charlotte, Halifax and Pittsylvania Counties and cold temperatures created some travel troubles.

While the snow is no longer falling, temperatures across much of south-central Virginia remains in the mid- to upper 20’s and any moisture on road surfaces is likely frozen. Caution is urged.

Motorists should be aware of current traffic and weather conditions if traveling. Before traveling, call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org for the latest conditions. For additional information and tips about driving in wintry weather, visit VDOT’s website at www.virginiadot.org.
