RTE 628 OVER BRIERY CREEK TO CLOSE FOR REPAIRS
Motorists to use alternate routes

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY – Motorists who normally use Rte 628 over Briery Creek in Prince Edward County should plan to use alternate routes during work slated to begin in the near future.

Starting June 8, weather permitting Rte 628 will be closed to thru traffic from the intersection with Rte 15 to the intersection of Rte 630 while bridge rehabilitation is done.

Burleigh Construction, under contract to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), plans to begin the work on that date and expects to reopen the structure in August. The work was scheduled to take advantage of the school system’s summer break and to avoid school bus delays and changes in routes.

Signs and other safety control devices are being put in place to alert motorists to this closure and to the presence of the work zone.

Motorists are urged to use caution, plan ahead and be alert. For up-to-date information about this and other highway projects and activities, visit www.511Virginia.org or call 511.
