SOUTHBOUND RTE 29 RESTRICTED DURING BRIDGE WORK
Lane closures to last approximately two months

CHATHAM – Motorists should expect lane closures, changes in traffic pattern and possible delays during work on the Route 29 Bridge over the Banister River beginning next week and lasting for approximately two months.

A contractor working for the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will shut down one lane of the structure at a time, alternating lanes several times, for joint replacement and application of an epoxy overlay.

Signs and other traffic control devices will be used to alert motorists to these operations. The bridge is located 1.81 miles south of Chatham.

Motorists should use caution when traveling through this or any work zone. For information about this or any highway work zone, dial 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org.
