UPDATE: US 29 ACCIDENT IN PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY CLEARED
All lanes now open

LYNCHBURG –US 29 near Route 803 in Pittsylvania County was partially closed much of the day due to an accident involving a tractor-trailer carrying live turkeys.

At 9:00 a.m., one lane of US 29 North was closed by the overturned vehicle and loose turkeys.
Emergency personnel, including the Virginia Department of Transportation, were on scene.

As of 2:30 p.m., all lanes were open and traffic was moving smoothly.
