MOTORISTS SHOULD BE ALERT TO ICY CONDITIONS
Black ice possible

LYNCHBURG – Major roads across the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are in clear to minor condition this morning with the exception of Amherst and Nelson counties, where they are generally snow or ice covered.  Motorists should be alert to the presence of ice even on surfaces that appear clear.  Secondary routes are mostly snow-covered and are likely to be slick.

Crews in some areas have turned their attention back to the primary routes and will return to secondary roads once sunshine and warmer temperatures weaken the hold the packed snow and ice have on those roads surfaces.

For the latest real-time traffic information, please call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org.

The Lynchburg District is comprised of the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
