ROUTE 29 BUSINESS IN CHATHAM TO BE CLOSED
Bridge over Route 29 Bypass to be rebuilt

LYNCHBURG — Beginning July 6, 2010, motorists in the Chatham area of Pittsylvania County who normally use Route 29 Business/Main Street will face a traffic change that will last for an extended period.

Route 29 Business will be closed to through traffic at the east- and westbound on and off ramps to the Route 29 Bypass.  The road is being closed so that the bridge over the Bypass can be rebuilt.  The closure will last approximately 270 days and signs will be posted for detours.

Motorists on the northern end of the project will detour via Route 29 Business to Route 29 Bypass and back to Route 29 Business; motorists on the southern end of the project will detour via Route 29 Bypass to Route 685 (Chalk Level Road) and back to Route 29 Business.
