ROUTE 658 TO CLOSE TEMPORARILY FOR RAIL WORK
Detour to be provided

LYNCHBURG – Motorists who normally use Route 658 in Halifax County as part of their daily commute should plan ahead for a change beginning Wednesday, March 17.

Route 658 will be closed from the intersection with US 501 South to the intersection with Route 704 while Norfolk-Southern Railway performs maintenance work on their rail line.  The maintenance work will involve the cutting of existing pavement, replacement of the rails and replacement of pavement.

During these operations, the following detour will be available: Route 658 to Route 704 and back to Route 501.

While it is anticipated that the work will be complete in less than 24 hours, it is possible that it could be delayed by weather.  Appropriate traffic control devices will be used to alert motorists to the closure when it occurs.

For the latest real-time traffic information, please call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org.
