TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONER APPROVES LYNCHBURG DISTRICT HIGHWAY CONTRACTS

LYNCHBURG – Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Acting Commissioner Greg Whirley approved five contracts recently valued at approximately $1.8 million for highway construction and maintenance in the Lynchburg District. 

Surface Preparation Technologies, Inc. of Mechanicsburg, PA was awarded a contract valued at $84,000 to install centerline rumble strips at various locations totaling approximately 6.76 miles along Route 151 between Route 664 in Nelson County and Route 250 in Albemarle County.  Work is expected to be complete by September 2010. 

Pearson Construction, Inc. of Dillwyn, VA was awarded a $484,000 contract for the reconstruction of Route 613 from 0.22 miles south of Route 696 to Route 717 in Buckingham County.  The work is scheduled to be complete by December 2010. 

A. R. Coffey & Sons, Inc. of Buchanan, VA was awarded a $265,000 contract for the reconstruction of Route 751 in Prince Edward County from 0.05 miles north of Route 657 to 0.74 miles north of Route 657.  The work is scheduled to be complete by October 2010.  

Crews Construction Co., Inc. of Dry Fork, VA was awarded a $124,000 contract to improve vertical alignment and increase sight distance by reconstructing a portion of Route 750 near Route 863 in Pittsylvania County.  Work is expected to be complete by December 2010.  

Burleigh Construction Co., Inc. of Concord, VA was awarded a contract valued at $824, 000 for maintenance activities, including cleaning/washing of bridge decks and repairs, on bridges at various locations in the ten-county Lynchburg District.  Work is scheduled to be complete by June 2011.
