UPDATE: CARTERSVILLE ROAD BRIDGE CLOSING FOR REPAIRS IN JANUARY
Drivers will use detour through May 2011
LYNCHBURG – Starting January 3, 2011, weather permitting motorists will see preparations underway for the closure of the Route 45/684 (Cartersville Road) Bridge over Muddy Creek. Signs will be erected and the area prepared for the arrival of a crane to be used in the rehabilitation project.
The bridge, located at the Powhatan/Cumberland County line, will close to traffic prior to January 7 for repairs. From January through May 2011, drivers will use the following detour (estimated at least 30 minutes travel time):
• Route 45 (Cartersville Road)
• Route 60 (Anderson Highway)
• Route 684 (Bell Road) that turns into Cartersville Road
The bridge rehabilitation project involves replacing the superstructure, repairing the substructure and guardrail upgrades. The project is expected to be complete in June 2011
