New traffic pattern to be in place at US 460 East/29 North and Concord Turnpike

LYNCHBURG – Beginning Monday morning, May 23, a new traffic pattern will be in place at the intersection of US 460 East/29 North and Concord Turnpike.  Motorists should pay careful attention to message boards and newly-installed signage along the roadway and be alert to this change.

Starting Monday, motorists on US 460 East/29 North who want to reach Concord Turnpike or US 460 West/29 South will use the new jug handle by exiting to the right just prior to the Concord Turnpike stoplight. The left turn lane at the light will not longer be accessible.

Following the opening of the jug handle, crews will begin closing crossovers on US 460/29 between Concord Turnpike and US 501.  This work will be accomplished during the overnight hours when traffic is less heavy.

Completion of this phase of the US 460/29 Access Management project is slated for November 2011.
