ROUTE 646 DAMAGE IN PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY CLARIFIED
Flooding, downed trees reported in several counties

LYNCHBURG – Additional information has been received about damage to the dam on Route 646 (Farmville Lake Road) in Prince Edward County.  A breach occurred in the spillway of the dam following significant rain earlier today.  Other sections of the dam are currently holding and downstream structures do not appear to be in danger at this time.  VDOT and emergency personnel are continuing to monitor the situation.

Flooding and downed trees were reported in Prince Edward, Buckingham and Cumberland Counties this morning with most of the issues fully addressed within a short period of time.

Additional rain is possible and motorists should maintain their awareness of roadway conditions.
