YOUNGBLOOD PROMOTED TO VDOT PLANNER
Rick J. Youngblood of Rustburg has been promoted to Lynchburg District Planning Manager for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
An employee of the Department since 2001, Youngblood began his VDOT career as the first local Asset Data Collection Manager and has most recently served as Transportation Planner. He is, also, a Certified GIS (Geographic Information System) Professional. As the District Planning Manager, Youngblood will oversee transportation planning efforts for 10 counties, five planning district commissions (PDCs), three small urban areas and two metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs).
Prior to working at VDOT, he worked with local government as a zoning administrator and interim director of the Central Virginia Planning District Commission.
Youngblood obtained his Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Planning from West Virginia University and his Master’s Degree in Geography and Planning from the California University of Pennsylvania.
Youngblood, his wife and two children live in Campbell County where he is also active in coaching soccer, serving as chairman for the Recreation Advisory Board for Campbell County and attending Hyland Heights Bypass Church.
