DESIGN PUBLIC HEARING SET ON RTE 501 PASSING LANE PROJECT
Proposed project will add a passing lane and improve alignment in Campbell County

LYNCHBURG -The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a design public hearing in August to show plans for the proposed improvements to the section of Route 501 (Brookneal Highway) in the vicinity of Route 970, Campbell County.

The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 4-6 p.m. at William Campbell Combined School, 474 William Campbell Drive, Naruna.  In case of inclement weather, the hearing will be held at the same time and location on Thursday, August 22.

The purpose of the meeting is to give citizens an opportunity to review and discuss plans to add an additional lane to serve as a passing lane and to improve alignment.  In addition, the connection to Route 970 will be relocated to the north to improve intersection sight distance.

No formal presentations will be made at the meeting; however, staff will be on hand to discuss project information.

Citizens may provide oral or written comments at the hearing or submit them by August 30 (September 1 for inclement weather) to Renard Yeatts, project manager, Virginia Department of Transportation, 4219 Campbell Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501.  Comments may also be emailed to lynchburginfo@vdot.virginia.gov.
