MOTORISTS SHOULD USE CAUTION ON SECONDARY ROUTES
Most major routes clear throughout Lynchburg District
LYNCHBURG –Most major routes throughout the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are clear this morning after a winter storm that started Tuesday and lasted throughout most of the day on Wednesday.
Crews worked overnight to address conditions on primary and secondary routes. Moderate conditions – significant snow on major portions of roadway-continue to be reported on Route 60 in Amherst County and Route 56 in Nelson County. Both roads were closed for a time yesterday due to heavy snow, accidents or downed trees; clean-up will continue today. Two Amherst County roads, Routes 605 and 643 are in severe condition this morning, meaning there is significant snow or the road is partially blocked.
Motorists should use caution this morning and be alert to the conditions. VDOT urges motorists to know the conditions before leaving their current locations. For the latest on road conditions and traffic during winter storms or anytime, call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org.
