VDOT LYNCHBURG DISTRICT RESPONDS TO WINTER STORM
Road conditions have changed across the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). Accumulations of snow have been reported in all ten counties of the district.
Driving may be difficult today and tonight because low temperatures and moisture will likely lead to freezing surfaces, especially on untreated roadways, bridges and overpasses. Motorists may want to avoid travel through the early morning hours of Saturday as temperatures are expected to remain below freezing during the first part of the day.
Motorists should check VDOT’s 511 travel website, www.511virginia.org, before leaving home/work. Travelers can also call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for real-time information on traffic and road conditions.
To report downed trees or hazardous road condition, call VDOT’s Customer Service Center at 800-367-7623 (800-FOR-ROAD).
The Lynchburg District includes the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
