LYNCHBURG DISTRICT:  ICY ROAD CONDITIONS POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT AND EARLY FRIDAY MORNING

LYNCHBURG – Motorists may encounter slick or icy roads overnight Thursday and into Friday morning for portions of southcentral Virginia.  Icing conditions are possible, particularly in cooler areas such as bridges and overpasses or locations in the higher elevations.

Air temperatures will hover near or slightly below freezing in some locations and roadways temperatures will, also, be near 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Motorists should beware of conditions prior to travel, if possible. Please call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org for up to date information.

In addition, motorists are reminded to use caution, allow extra time and remember that vehicles do not respond in the same way on wet and/icy surfaces as they do on dry pavement.

The Lynchburg District includes the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
