SOUTH AMHERST HIGHWAY WORK MAY CREATE DELAYS
Contractor to do tree removal

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Motorists may encounter delays on South Amherst Highway (Route 163) between the Lynchburg City Limits and Miller Lane (Route 1025) beginning Tuesday, June 26, weather permitting, when roadside maintenance operations take place.

Xylem Tree Service, under contract to the Virginia Department of Transportation, will cut and remove trees along the roadside and banking. Removal of the trees will allow for a safer driving experience and, possibly, less damage to infrastructure.

Traffic will be shifted away from the roadside and work zone safety devices will be in use. Operations will take place between 7 am and sunset each day until work is complete.
